Job Description
The Department of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology (BCMP) at Harvard Medical School invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, commensurate with accomplishments. We are seeking an outstanding, creative scientist working in the general area of chemical biology, broadly defined, to join our Department.

The Department of BCMP and Harvard Medical School provide exceptional scientific and scholarly resources, as well as a family-friendly and supportive environment in which to perform innovative research. BCMP faculty have diverse backgrounds and interests in molecules and mechanisms, and their roles in health and disease. Our research is organized around the application of molecular, structural, and chemical approaches to the understanding of form and function in biology. The Department strongly encourages team science and interdisciplinary work, and has strong ties across Harvard-affiliated teaching hospitals and the Boston biomedical community.

In addition to a focus on research innovation, BCMP has a strong commitment to the teaching and mentoring of trainees. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach and mentor exceptional graduate students from a diverse range of programs, including the umbrella Biological and Biomedical Sciences (BBS) PhD Program and more topic specific programs such as the Chemical Biology and Biophysics graduate programs.

Candidates must have a PhD, MD, or an equivalent terminal degree. We are committed to building a diverse faculty and strongly encourage applications from women and from individuals in underrepresented groups.

To apply, please submit to the Harvard web portal (https://academicpositions.harvard.edu/postings/12513):

2. CV (including bibliography)
3. Statement of Research. This statement should include the following three sections:

iii. a brief big picture view of your chosen field that highlights the important unanswered questions and opportunities in the field (500-words maximum)
4. Statement on how you will/have promoted diversity, inclusion and belonging (one page maximum)
5. Statement on teaching and mentoring (one page maximum).

Review of applications will begin on October 15, 2023, with the portal to be closed on October 31st. References will only be notified by email to upload letters of support once all of your application materials have been submitted. Please ensure that your references (at least 3 and no more than 5) upload their support letters promptly. Application materials received after October 15 are not guaranteed a review.
