The State of Connecticut, Department of Correction (DOC) is seeking to fill a position for a highly motivated and experienced licensed Clinical Social Worker at Cheshire Correctional Institution. Position highlights As a licensed Clinical Social Worker, you will have the opportunity to work within a clinically rich setting, with opportunities to provide intake assessments, individual psychotherapy, crisis management, suicide risk assessment, case management services and other clinical activities. Clinical Social Workers at Cheshire Correctional Institution work within a dynamic, multidisciplinary team comprised of social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists and APRNs, as well as medical personnel and custody staff, all sharing the common goal of providing high quality, service-oriented care. This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position on second shift. Schedule is Monday-Friday between 2:00pm and 10:00pm, with weekend & holiday rotation. About us Our Mission: The Department of Correction shall strive to be a global leader in progressive correctional practices and partnered re-entry initiatives to support responsive evidence-based practices aligned to law-abiding and accountable behaviors. Safety and security shall be a priority component of this responsibility as it pertains to staff, victims, citizens and offenders. The Mental Health Department offers a variety of programs for offenders who are experiencing stress and depression, including emotional literacy, community groups and psycho-education. The Cheshire Correctional Institution confines adult sentenced and unsentenced offenders. It also operates several specialized housing units, including protective custody, restrictive housing and the True Program. The facility supports the DOC initiative by providing various opportunities that address risks/needs such as; offender programming, learning a trade through prison industries, educational and vocational programming to include special education services provided to qualified students under age 22, addiction treatment programming and religious services.
