The State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation (DOT), is now accepting applications for three exciting Lead Transit Engineer (Transportation Engineer 3 (Engineering)) roles within the Facilities and Transit Design Units in the Division of Facilities and Transit, located at our headquarters in Newington, CT. These positions will support the DOT’s initiatives to develop and construct Connecticut’s public transportation network.

THE ROLE:
The Facilities and Transit Design units have several challenging openings for senior level engineers to work on bus and rail transit projects.
The Facilities Design Unit provides consultant engineering design and technical support services in the areas of Civil, Architectural, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. The primary focus of this position would be to provide engineering and project management for new or renovation design projects at facilities that support bus transit operations. These projects include new or renovations to maintenance facilities, battery-electric-bus facility conversions, and a bus rapid transit system.
The Transit Design Unit is a multidisciplinary design unit that provides engineering design services and program management to support commuter and inter-city rail engineering for rail stations, rail maintenance facilities, track, signal, catenary, rail at-grade crossings, and other Public Transportation initiated projects.
In these roles you will showcase your considerable knowledge of contemporary techniques, concepts and procedures employed in the field of engineering, as applied to the Department of Transportation.
APPLICATION DETAILS:
You will be expected to travel to and attend trainings, conferences, public meetings, field reviews, etc. both within and outside of normal working hours when necessary, and possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license. Please list your Driver’s license number, expiration date, and issuing State in the "Licenses and Professional Certifications" section of your application. If applicable, please also list your Professional Engineer (PE) license number and expiration date, Engineer in Training licensure, and any other job-relevant licenses or certifications you hold.
