As the Director of Education, your role is to oversee AFCPE’s educational strategy, which includes high-quality professional development webinars, AFC® educational support materials, and online course development. You will stay up-to-date on developments and changes within the personal finance field to ensure AFCPE is ahead of the curve in delivering timely, culturally competent, accessible programming. You will lead efforts to develop partnerships with a focus on improving, growing, and expanding the reach of our educational programs.
You will be part of a dynamic, collaborative, high performing team with a results-oriented approach. You must be a self-starter with excellent follow-through to move the needle on impact and progress. You will be expected to continually work to increase AFCPE’s impact through education to ensure the highest standards of professionalism for the field.
This position reports directly to the Operations Officer and does not have access to exam content nor exposure to the Exam Development Committee.
Effectively lead and develop a strong team of direct reports
Provide strategic focus, oversight, and quality assurance of all AFCPE educational programs and resources
Oversee evaluation, selection, and approval of all AFC self-study materials
Develop strong partnerships to grow and expand the reach of AFCPE educational programs
Stay current on all significant changes in the personal finance space to develop and deliver high quality educational programs and content to financial professionals
Stay updated on education trends, research, and best practices to inform decision-making, strategic planning, and programmatic improvements
Ensure high-quality, value-aligned customer service
Create, manage, and oversee department budget
Special project management as needed
Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
Integrity and commitment to AFCPE’s mission
Bachelor’s Degree or related work experience (in consumer science, personal finance, financial planning, or related field preferred)
AFC® in good standing
5+ years of professional work experience in related role
Strong communicator with effective presentation and public speaking skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with board, staff, and leadership.
Strong leader and manager of people and processes.
Ability to prioritize multiple commitments and drive projects through to completion.
Strategic solutions-oriented problem solver
Strong business writing, oral communication, and presentation skills
Proficient in Microsoft office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
Proven ability to develop and deliver high quality programs and strategies to ensure AFCPE continues to set the standard for financial counseling and planning education.
Ability to network and establish longstanding relationships with key partners to expand AFCPE’s educational programming, content, and reach.
AFC® in good standing for a minimum of 2 years
Occasional travel to tradeshows and conferences to represent AFCPE
40 hours/week between 9am – 5pm ET
Mandatory full staff meetings; travel may be required 1-2 times per year
Mandatory travel to AFCPE Annual Symposium in November
