Job Description
Equity & Inclusion Coordinator
We are looking for talented professional that will serve as Frederick County Government’s Equity and Inclusion Coordinator. This is a unique opportunity for a person that is seeking to make an impact on society, and is passionate about advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) across a wide arena. Our new Equity and Inclusion Coordinator will use their talent and skills in providing support for both the initiatives of the Office of Equity and Inclusion (OEI), as well as the work of two County Commissions (Equity and Inclusion Commission and Immigrant Affairs Commission) that are supported by the OEI. This position must foster strong internal and external relationships for the purpose of integrating diversity, inclusion and belonging throughout the County. The Equity and Inclusion Coordinator provides supervision for interns and staff. Supervision is received from Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer (CEIO).

Work with the CEIO to formalize and implement DEIB strategic goals and activities
Plan, coordinate, direct and implement activities which improve access to County services, resources and opportunities for the advancement of diverse constituents
Provide leadership in developing, organizing, and advancing DEIB initiatives, under the direction of the CEIO
Assist the CEIO in organizing and preparing information and materials for meetings and projects
Manage the calendar for the CEIO and the OEI
Assess, research, and compile data; develop and produce analytical reports as requested by the CEIO
Monitor OEI performance measures by tracking and analyzing the effectiveness of strategies and programs against metrics; use data to make recommendations on goals and objectives
Provide supervision for interns and staff
Utilize social media to communicate information provided by the CEIO
Engage with the Communications Office, under the supervision of the CEIO, in managing the OEI webpage
Assist in the development and delivery of educational programs that elevate the cultural competencies of both Frederick County Government employees and the general public
Assist in developing & coordinating DEIB trainings for Frederick County Government and the community
Research and monitor trends at county, state and national levels that impact diverse constituents
Identify trends and best practices to increase diversity in the workplace
Research and gather information on best practices and emerging trends that assist in analyzing and assessing the County’s DEIB policies, procedures and programs
Research and monitor newspaper, social media, and the web regarding issues related to DEIB
Submit relevant, informative, and educational articles to newspapers, social media and other publications; and develop related video or other media programs
Participate in coalition building activities that address the needs and interests of diverse populations of employees and constituents
Represent the CE’s office and OEI at various county events; speak to various public and private groups on issues of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging
Identify civic and social engagement opportunities that support established goals
Handle constituent inquiries
Offer sound thoughts and opinions that support the advancement of DEIB
Manage special projects assigned by the CEIO
Serve as CEIO’s designee, as needed
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree regionally accredited college or university
Minimum 2 years of human/civil rights and/or equity and inclusion work experience
Minimum 2 years of administrative work experience in an office environment
NOTE: An additional 2 years of human/civil rights and/or equity and inclusion work experience may reduce the education requirement to an Associate’s degree
