Job Description
Professor of Counseling

Location: Asheville, North Carolina

The College of Education and Human Services seeks applications for two full-time, tenure-track positions at the Center for Graduate Studies of Asheville of Lenoir-Rhyne University. These appointments are designed as a nine-month, open-rank (assistant professor or higher) positions in the School of Counseling and Human Services to serve in the center supporting the university’s CACREP-accredited M.A. in Counseling program. These appointments are based in Asheville and begin fall 2024.

These positions will teach graduate courses and carry an 18-hour load (nine hours per term) teaching load each year. Service to the university, scholarly/professional engagement and campus citizenship is also required. A terminal degree in counseling and/or counselor education from a CACREP-accredited institution is required. Preferred candidates will possess the credentials and experience to offer courses in clinical mental health counseling and/or school counseling. Evidence of exemplary college teaching experience is strongly preferred. Familiarity with and willingness to develop and deliver courses utilizing online and other non-traditional pedagogies is required.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to collaborate closely with LR’s graduate admissions office to maintain enrollments and sustain strong partnerships with clinical placement sites in the field. Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment and capacity for teaching excellence, student mentorship, scholarly and professional engagement and campus citizenship.
