Alumni Engagement Officer - University Advancement

The Alumni Engagement Officer serves as a primary source of communication, connection, and outreach to specific populations of alumni for the purpose of increasing alumni engagement in event attendance, volunteering, and also financial support of Azusa Pacific University. In addition this role supports the
development and implementation of alumni engagement initiatives and provides support to the Office of Alumni Engagementís special projects, events, and programs that will help to track, measure, and increase alumni engagement at APU.

Required Education

Bachelorís degree required.
Masterís preferred.
Required Experience

A minimum of three to five years of professional work experience in nonprofit management, development, alumni relations, volunteer management, marketing, public relations, sales or similar professional work experience is required.
Demonstrated ability in relationship management, sales, volunteer management, or development.
Demonstrated experience in planning and managing programs required.
Demonstrated experience in planning and executing events required.
Primary Duties/Essential Functions

Alumni Engagement Outreach
Conduct regular email outreach to alumni and meet alumni engagement goals for correspondence and information updates.
Manage a roster of alumni based on either specific population, program, location, or affinity.
Meet with alumni either in person, virtually, or over the phone to fulfill key performance indicators related to alumni contacts for the purpose of growing their connection and sharing the opportunities for engagement with the institution.
Recruit volunteers to increase alumni engagement and participation in events.
Utilize LinkedIn Sales Navigator to source alumni for potential recruitment efforts and event participation.
Create and execute customized engagement outreach to increase alumni participation in Homecoming, Reunions, and any other alumni sponsored events.
Maintain relationships with alumni, volunteer leadership, faculty, and administrators to advance efforts.
Travel states to regional alumni events, individual meetings with alumni, and university-sponsored events, if needed.
Provide oversight, direction, and strategy for the Alumni Affinity group program.
Regular, punctual attendance as required by the supervisor based on department needs (evenings/weekends when required).
Performs other duties as required by the supervisor.
Project Management
Develop, implement, and sustain specific projects for the Office of Alumni Engagement to fulfill the goals and strategy of the department including volunteer management, event management, regional outreach, population specific strategies, and other alumni initiatives.
Partner with University Advancement to ensure that all alumni engagement data is being tracked.
Responsible for daily electronic timekeeping as it applies to the scope of this position.
Regular, punctual attendance as required by the supervisor based on department needs.
Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with alumni, parents, students, faculty, and staff with proper English usage.
Organized with the ability to prioritize work and exercise independent judgment, wisdom, common sense, and initiative.
Aptitude in gathering and analyzing data.
Composing clear, concise, and grammatically correct correspondence; reading, interpreting, and applying information from complex technical materials.
Performing difficult and responsible clerical work and administrative duties involving use of independent judgment, discretion, and confidentiality.
Effectively present instructions and information, in writing and orally, to the general public, outside agencies, and fellow employees.
Prioritizing and scheduling workload to ensure completion when faced with deadlines or emergencies.
Using patience, tact, and courtesy in dealing with the public; working harmoniously with departmental personnel.
Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel with accuracy and skill.
Ability to quickly adapt and learn new computer and website procedures and processes.
Good organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
Ability to manage details and follow through.
Must be collaborative and an effective team member and team builder.
Mental Demands

Good organizational skills, ability to take direction, and manage several projects at the same time using logical problem-solving skills.
Ability to keep confidentiality with discretion and good judgment and establish trust with others.
Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and follow through.

Physical Demands

Requires repetitive motion and sitting at a computer keyboard.
Hearing and speaking on the telephone.
Meetings may require walking and/or driving to various University locations.
Ability to pull, push, bend, grasp, reach and lift up to 20 lbs.
Must be able to climb stairs multiple times in a workday.
Visual Demands

Computer monitor and reading.

Pleasant office, comfortable temperatures.

Proficient in Google Apps., Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.

Grade 10: $25.94 to $29.83 is the hourly compensation for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, APU offers a competitive benefits package.
