Water Law Attorney (JN -092024-377118) Position: Water Law Attorney Location: Longmont, CO Job Type: Full-Time, Onsite Compensation: $100,000-$130,000 Experience Level: Mid-Senior Level
About the Role: Our excellent client is seeking an experienced Water Law Attorney to join our dynamic legal team in Longmont, CO. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in water rights, water resource management, and related legal issues. You will work with a diverse range of clients, including municipalities, water districts, and private entities, providing legal counsel on water law matters such as water rights adjudication, regulatory compliance, and water resource planning.
Key Responsibilities: * Provide expert legal advice on water rights, water transfers, and related real estate matters. * Represent clients in water courts, state agencies, and administrative hearings. * Draft and review legal documents, including water agreements, contracts, and regulatory filings. * Assist clients with water rights adjudication, permitting, and negotiations. * Work closely with water districts, municipalities, and agricultural clients on compliance with Colorado water law. * Monitor and advise on legislative and regulatory developments related to water resources. * Collaborate with other legal professionals in the firm on multi-disciplinary issues related to land use, environmental law, and real estate.
Qualifications: * Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school. * Licensed to practice law in Colorado and in good standing. * Minimum of 3+ years of experience practicing water law in Colorado. * Strong knowledge of Colorado water law, including water rights adjudication and transfers. * Experience representing clients before Colorado water courts and regulatory agencies. * Exceptional written and oral communication skills. * Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications: * Strong relationships with key stakeholders in the Colorado water law community. * Experience working with agricultural, municipal, or industrial clients on water rights matters. * Familiarity with environmental law and land use planning as it relates to water resources.
