The Connecticut State Library (CSL), has (1) available opportunity for a Librarian 1 - State Library within the History & Genealogy Department of References Services, at the State Library's main facility in Hartford.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
Full Time, 40 hours per week
Monday through Friday
First Shift, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Hybrid (a combination of in-office/telework based on operational needs)
Location: Connecticut State Library- 231 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT 06106

THE ROLE
As a Librarian 1-State Library, you will be dedicated to learning about the wide-ranging historical and cultural background of the people of Connecticut and the social, political, and governmental structures that have existed through time.

The successful candidate will possess enthusiasm for working with material in various mediums (print, original records, electronic, etc.), have a demonstrated ability to commit to long-term projects that build on the years of existing research of those before them, and:
Staff the History & Genealogy Unit reference desk
Staff the Secured Collections Reading Area as needed
Assist patrons with locating and using materials from the State Library secured collections as well as the State Archives
Correspond with patrons using written and electronic formats to answer their queries
Learn about the library's resources by updating existing research guides, and finding aids and creating or adding to these using primary source materials
Support efforts to digitize and make accessible the library's unique resources

The State Library provides a variety of library, information, archival, public records, museum, and administrative services for citizens of Connecticut, as well as for the employees and officials of all three branches of State government. CSL also serves students, libraries, researchers, and town governments.
