This role will oversee the administrative support team, manage staff needs across various infectious disease programs, and ensure administrative tasks are prioritized and completed. Supporting staff associated with various programs, including but not limited to those in Immunizations, Tuberculosis, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, HIV, Healthcare Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance Program, and the Epidemiology and Emerging Infections Program Reporting to the Director of Infectious Diseases and oversee the administrative needs of staff across Infectious Disease (~140+ staff) Overseeing phone and on call coverage for the entire Section Ensuring administrative tasks are prioritized, assigned and completed to meet the needs of the Infectious Diseases Section ABOUT US The Mission of the Department of Public Health (DPH) is to protect and improve the health and safety of the people of Connecticut by assuring the conditions in which people can be healthy, preventing disease, injury, and disability, and promoting the equal enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health, which is a human right and a priority of the state. DPH accomplishes this through the implementation of its Strategic Plan which outlines the actions that DPH is taking to accomplish its Mission. The Infectious Disease Section collects data to assess chronic and infectious disease and associated risk factors; identifies and responds to emerging infections, and conducts outbreak investigations and surveillance. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE Five (5) years of general clerical experience. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been at a lead or supervisory level. NOTE: For state employees lead or supervisory experience is interpreted at the level of a Head Clerk. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of two (2) years. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience supervising staff, assigning activities and overseeing the work performed. Experience handling large call volume, triaging calls, communicating with general public, healthcare professionals, and the medical community. Experience handling multiple and competing priorities, producing accurate results and meeting deadlines. Experience creating and processing travel authorizations and reimbursements, and entering requisitions in financial or procurement systems (e.g., PeopleSoft). Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams, to communicate with internal staff and external partners, as well as handling and sharing documents and spreadsheets Contact Information
