POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:
Full Time
Monday through Friday
First Shift, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
Location: Rocky Hill, with statewide travel required
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Incumbents in this class must be willing to work varying schedules, to include overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Incumbents in this class will be required to have a 25-mile residency from the posted job location.
THE ROLE:
The Electronics Technician 2 will assist the Lead Electronics Technician with service of the complete DOT Land Mobile Radio (LMR) System, including the infrastructure of approximately 2,500 mobile radios, 20 base stations, 2 complete operations centers, 3 Newington repeater systems, movable bridge radios, base, portable and repeater systems, statewide Weight Station signal control systems, mobile electronic equipment such as emergency warning lighting systems, computer docking stations, GPS equipment and equipment consoles and other associated duties.
The job duties will also include:
installation, removal, maintenance, testing and repair of all equipment included in the system
required to work in different work environments
some climbing, bucket work, bridge radio repair, high voltage proximity
extensive knowledge of many types of test equipment, including DVM’s O scopes, TIMS, Service Monitors, Spectrum Analyzers, Wattmeter’s, and other associated equipment
The duties require driving to different DOT facilities throughout the State to perform a variety of installation and repairs. A vehicle will be provided, as well as the necessary tools and equipment. The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently and with a fast-paced schedule.
Candidates must be able to pass a background check, acquire a security clearance, and have/maintain a valid CT driver’s license.
