ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB is seeking a dynamic and talented Entry Level Transportation Engineer to join our Multimodal Transportation Team in our Washington, DC office.  As a member of the Multimodal Transportation Team, the selected candidate will support our clients’ efforts to plan and design new and improved urban transportation facilities that support all transportation modes and reduce crashes and injuries in our local communities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct analysis in support of transportation projects.
• Use and create geospatial transportation data.
• Create text and spreadsheet documents and manipulate data.
• Effectively interact with VHB staff to advance projects in a timely manner.
• Perform field work, taking measurements, pictures, visually confirming transportation facility operations.
• Prepare clearly organized traffic safety and engineering reports and technical memos to communicate findings and recommendations.

Skills and Attributes

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience using various ArcGIS platforms.
• Ability to independently perform multiple tasks and interact appropriately and positively with coworkers.
• Self-motivated with attention to detail.
• Familiarity with transportation planning and traffic engineering principles and resources.
• Team oriented with strong capability to work independently.

Qualifications

• 0 to 1 years of transportation experience, preferably including transportation safety
• BS in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, or a related field of transportation

Hiring Salary Range - $75,000 - $80,000. However, the final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, and experience. In addition, VHB offers a holistic benefits package which can be found here.
