Faculty - Graphic Design Department Beginning August 2025 Graphic Design Department Full-Time Faculty Appointment with Benefits The Graphic Design Department at Ringling College of Art and Design is inviting applications for a full-time faculty appointment beginning in August 2025. The Graphic Design Program delivers a rigorous curriculum with a proven record of national and international success and foundational principles in typography, design and communication. The Department is seeking a faculty member with professional and educational graphic design experience. This is a full-time appointment with benefits. The salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will report to the Department Head and teach a 3/3 studio class course load, within a structure of three courses or nine credits per semester. The primary responsibility of this position will be providing quality instruction for the design of visual systems across a variety of media formats with subjects that may include, typography, identity and branding, publication, packaging, environmental display, design for good, social media and UI/UX. Course assignments are based on a combination of department needs and faculty expertise or area of interest. The Graphic Design department provides opportunities for collaboration such as team teaching, shared course resources, cross-class critiques and shared experiences related to best practices for teaching and assessing student work. The department also supports opportunities for cross-departmental collaboration with models already existing between Graphic Design and Entertainment Design, and Film. Candidates are expected to have an ongoing commitment to creative work and scholarship. Active participation in faculty, department, and college service is required. Ringling College’s Graphic Design Department features fully equipped and updated Macintosh computer labs with color printers in each classroom. We also have a process studio classroom that has screen printing presses and workspace for cutting, folding, gluing, sewing, inking, binding and other hand work. Our Print Services department features large format printing, laser cutting and laser etching. The Makerspace and Digital Fabrication Studio features a letterpress and book arts facility with metal and wood type, flatbed presses, Risograph, vacuum forming, 3D printing and a full wood shop including access to CNC machining. Ringling students also have opportunities for professional experience with client-based projects in our faculty-run Design Center in addition to the INDEX (Industry Experience) program which provides client-centered teaching and learning opportunities via classes, competitions and workshops. The anticipated start date for this position is August 2025. (Minimum Qualifications) Include evidence of: • A Master’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication or related field, OR a 4-year professional degree in art or design and equivalent professional experience, training and expertise with demonstrated experience in professional practice. • An established portfolio of work in graphic design across a variety of media formats with expertise in traditional design principles. • Client experience or teaching in two or more of the following areas: typography, branding, publication design, packaging, UI/UX, data visualization, or motion design. (Preferred Qualifications) • MFA in Graphic Design or a related field. • Evidence of teaching effectiveness in examples of student work. • Ability to teach across all 4 years of undergraduate course topics including introductory, intermediate and advanced level topics. • Teaching experience at the college level, which may include adjunct, graduate assistantships or workshop teaching positions. • Commitment to improving as a designer and/or educator and willingness to work as a collaborative team member to build and refine curriculum delivery.
