Job Description
Contracts Manager
W.W. Norton & Company, Inc. seeks an experienced and skilled contracts professional to join the Contracts Department as a Contract Manager. This position will report to the Contracts Director.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Draft, negotiate and redline a wide range of book and subsidiary rights contracts
Maintain and update contract templates
Advise on contractual issues and assist editorial staff with acquisitions
Review and correct all drafted agreements prepared by the Contract Associates and Contracts Assistants
Prepare unique agreements and letters as the need arises (no objection letters; retroactive licenses)
Provide training to new employees on contract drafting practices and procedures
Assist the Contracts Director as needed

Qualifications & Requirements
Required Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree (BA or BS)?
5 or more years industry experience (book publishing and/or literary agency) reviewing, drafting and negotiating contracts
High level of comfort with both traditional and non-traditional publishing arrangements
Fluency and interest in financial and legal issues relevant to drafting and negotiation of publishing agreements
Familiarity with basic principles of copyright law
Ability to conduct complex negotiations
Team player with the ability to work effectively and independently
Excellent attention to detail with exceptional organizational ability
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office 365 and Docusign
Employment eligibility to work with W.W. Norton & Company in the US is required
Must be able to work from Norton’s New York City headquarters

Compensation and Benefits*

Currently available benefits include:

Annual compensation for this position is between $85,000-125,000. All salaries and salary ranges posted by Norton may vary depending on experience, skills, location, and like considerations.
