Marketing Coordinator Intern The University of Iowa Department of Athletics seeks applications for an Athletics Marketing Coordinator Intern. This is a full-time (at-will and FLSA-non-exempt) position. Fringe benefits are not included. Salary is set at $16.00 an hour. The University of Iowa is an NCAA Division I institution and a member of the Big Ten Conference. The Department of Athletics manages 22 varsity sports programs and related events with a workforce of approximately 205 regular employees and 300 temporary employees. Responsibilities: The Athletics Marketing Coordinator Intern is responsible for serving as the lead contact for designated Olympic sports, serving as a secondary contact for assigned sports, assisting staff in coverage of all sports and events as required. Other duties include: write and edit game scripts; create and modify graphics; execute the run of show for assigned sports; generate content for the official website for UI Athletics and department social media platforms; assist in the supervision of undergraduate student employees and other duties as assigned. Forty hours per week, which may include evening, weekend, and holiday hours. Required qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in athletic administration, marketing, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience; • Excellent oral and written communication skills; • Ability to work constructively and collaboratively in a diverse environment, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationships; • Working knowledge of and ability to: o Utilize basic office support software (word processing, email, presentation software and spreadsheets) o Operate effectively within a highly regulated team environment. • Ability to work 40 hours per week which may include evening, weekend, and holiday hours. Desired qualifications: • Basic knowledge and understanding of the professionalism and intensity necessary to successfully contribute to a Division I athletics program; • Previous experience in athletic marketing or promotions (student experience included); • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suites or other graphic design programs; • Knowledge of video and photo editing; • Experience writing game scripts and creating marketing plans; • Knowledge of working relationships with a media rights company; Application Process: Please send a copy of your cover letter and resume to athl-human-resources@uiowa.edu and reference ‘Athletics Marketing Coordinator Intern’ in the email title. • Applicants must include a resume and cover letter.
