Import/Export Intern
Job Description

As part of the Import/Export Dept, you will assist in the management and compliant operation of the Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) (manufacturing subzone) granted to LEGO Manufacturing Virginia (LVA) location. You will work closely with LVA departments, with LEGO global locations, with external suppliers, with distribution centers and transportation companies, and with US and local government authorities.

The Intern is 6 – 9 months in duration. During the school year you will be expected to work 20 hours per week. During the summer, the hours will be 40 hours per week. The role will be onsite at the LVA factory in Colonial Heights, VA. The responsibilities in Import/Export is split according with the specific traffic and Customs needs.

Learn about the Import/Export Requirements for the United States and other countries. Learn about the US Foreign Trade Zone and LVA’s manufacturing subzone. Support Import/Export Department with managing associated documentation for communication and archive.

Core Responsibilities
- Create and maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as on time performance, customs duties costs and savings, freight claims, transportation provider metrics, inbound receipts, outbound shipments.
- Monitor the transit of inbound shipments via various tools. When there is a delay, advise appropriate personnel as needed.
- Handle recordkeeping requirements for the Import/Export Department. Manage updates of information for tariff classifications and countries of origin and Foreign Trade Zone status.
- Oversee library of Processes, user guides and Standard Operating Procedures in place with regular updates via continuous alignment with Import/Export Manager, local and federal regulations changes, and digital platforms to secure long term compliance
- Be ready to act as back up in other positions in the department to ensure that operations continuity.
Qualifications & Requirements

- Currently pursuing Bachelors or Associate Degree, Area of Study – Supply Chain Mgt, Logistics, Business Administration
- Analyst skills, admin, Data analytics, creating reports
- Available in winter or summer
- Masters a Plus
