Acquisitions and E-Resources Librarian

The Acquisitions & E-Resources Librarian plays a vital role in ensuring access to high-quality resources for members of the Ringling College community by overseeing the acquisition and maintenance of library materials. This includes establishing and overseeing acquisitions processes; supervising copy cataloging and performing descriptive cataloguing; managing and troubleshooting electronic resources; and working with the Director of Library Services to manage the Library’s ILS (Currently Alma/ Primo VE). This position supervises Library Technicians involved in acquisitions and cataloguing. The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader with a strong background in library technology, cataloguing, and electronic resources.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Acquisitions
• Manage the acquisition of library materials in all formats (print, electronic, and multimedia) including monographs, serials, databases, and other resources.
• Develop, document, and oversee acquisition workflows and related procedures.
• Collect and analyze usage statistics to inform collection development decisions.

Cataloging
• Supervise copy cataloging and perform descriptive cataloging and coding of library materials using MARC, RDA, and other metadata standards.
• Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and discoverability of bibliographic records in the library's catalog.
• Stay current with developments in cataloging and metadata standards.

Technical Services and Electronic Resources
• Work with the Director of Library Services to manage the Integrated Library System (ILS).
• Manage the acquisition, licensing, implementation, and maintenance of electronic resources, including databases, electronic collections, and e-books.
• Troubleshoot access issues and provide technical support to staff.
• Collaborate with the IT department to ensure integration of electronic resources with library systems.
• Oversee the electronic resources budget, including coordinating and negotiating with vendors and consortia to secure favorable pricing and licensing agreements.

General Responsibilities
• Supervise, train, and evaluate acquisitions and resource management staff.
• Collaborate with other library staff to ensure effective operations and services.
• Participate in library planning and assessment activities.
• Represent the Library on college-wide committees.
• Monitor emerging trends in library technologies and recommend improvements.
• Participate in other library operations or projects as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Qualifications
• Master's degree in information and/or library science from an ALA-accredited program.
• Three years of library experience involving acquisitions, cataloging and/or management of electronic resources.
• Demonstrated knowledge of current cataloging standards (RDA, MARC, LCSH) and classification systems (LC).
• Experience with research databases and other online library resources.
• Supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with ALMA, Primo VE, and OCLC WorldShare Management Services.
• Experience in an academic library setting.
• Experience with budget management.
• Education and/or experience in an area(s) of art and design.
