Information Technology Analyst
The State of Connecticut Department of Administrative Services (DAS), Bureau of Information Technology Solutions (BITS) is currently accepting applications for an anticipated opening for an Information Technology Analyst 1 in service of Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS).

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
- Full Time, 40 Hours/week.
- First Shift, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

- This position will support Norwich Tech in Norwich, CT and Ellis Tech in Danielson, CT (Killingly). Travel may be required to other locations.

THE ROLE
The Information Technology Analyst 1 position will be part of the Technology Services Team located at CTECS Central Office reporting to the IT Supervisor in the Workforce Enablement Division of BITS. CTECS operates 17 Technical High Schools, 2 Aero-Tech programs and 1 Learning Center. The schools are located across the entire state from Danielson to Stamford. This position will support the Norwich Tech and Ellis Tech, but occasional travel will be required to other school locations. The Information Technology Analyst 1 can expect to:

- Respond to and resolve Level 1 technical issues (hardware, software, network) via phone, email, and in-person requests.
- Escalate complex problems to senior IT staff or vendors when necessary.
- Log, track, and monitor support tickets, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.
- Maintain a knowledge base for common issues and solutions.
- Act as a liaison between end-users, IT teams, and vendors to facilitate issue resolution.
- Provide clear updates to users on ticket status and expected resolution times.
- Diagnose and repair PC hardware issues using diagnostic tools.
- Rebuild, reimage, and configure desktops/laptops with OS and software.
- Install, update, and troubleshoot business applications (e.g., Office 365, antivirus).
- Assist in software deployments and patches.
- Set up terminal emulation software for remote/mainframe access.
- Configure and maintain network-connected peripherals (printers, scanners).
- Troubleshoot basic network issues (LAN/Wi-Fi/VPN connectivity, IP conflicts).
- Assist in configuring and maintaining network devices (routers, switches).
- Support disaster recovery procedures during outages.
- Assist in basic security tasks (firmware updates, monitoring alerts).
- Provide on-the-spot guidance for network tools (VPN, email setup).
- Document network changes and configurations.
- Assist team in IT projects (system upgrades, hardware/software deployments, office moves, etc.) at our 21 locations.
- Ensure compliance with IT policies and security standards.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices.

The State of Connecticut is undergoing a strategic optimization of our Information Technology (IT) resources, to deliver enterprise-wide services, in more efficient and innovative ways. We are setting trends, not following them. As part of these efforts, the Department of Administrative Services Bureau of Enterprise Systems and Technology (DAS BEST) is joining forces with the majority of Executive Branch, Agency IT organizations, to form a new, centralized team under the Bureau of Information Technology Solutions (BITS).
Qualifications & Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Five (5) years of experience in information technology (IT) operations support, programming or another IT related support area.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been performing basic technical support work in such areas as:
help desk functions;
- installing and maintaining basic computer hardware and software;
- data communications, microcomputer support, production control or programming;
- performing any closely related basic technical support function.
NOTE: For state employees basic technical support work is interpreted at the level of an Information Technology Technician.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
- College training in management information systems, computer science or information technology related area may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.
- A Master's degree in management information systems, computer science or electrical engineering may be substituted for the General and Special Experience.
- For state employees two (2) years as an Information Technology Technician may be substituted for the General and Special Experience.
- Successful completion of an Information Technology Analyst Trainee program approved by the Department of Administrative Services may be substituted for the General and Special Experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with network troubleshooting.
- Experience with O365 user and administration applications.
- Experience with server, desktops, laptops and peripherals troubleshooting.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows 11 and Apple iPhone operating system (iOS).
- Experience within an academic environment.
