POSITION HIGHLIGHTS - In this role, you will be accountable for the operations and supervision of a large shoreline recreational unit that includes more than 700 acres in the southeastern part of the state. - This position is full-time, following a first shift schedule, 40 hours per week and requires weekend duty for the active recreation season generally from Memorial Day to Columbus Day, including holidays. - The Rocky Neck Unit encompasses a major shoreline state park with included picnic areas, bathing beaches, 160 site campground, and a robust wedding program in the historic Ellie Mitchell Pavilion. - Other sites include state forests, wildlife management areas, historic sites, beaches, boating access areas, flood control structures and other facilities. - EP Park and Recreation Supervisor 3’s are responsible for managing both permanent and seasonal staff and day to day operations including maintenance of the facilities and equipment. - Please see the "Examples of Duties" section below for further details on the day-to-day duties of the position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE - Seven (7) years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a public park or outdoor recreational facility. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE - Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been in a supervisory capacity responsible for the supervision of support staff. NOTES: - Supervisory capacity is interpreted as scheduling, assigning and overseeing work, establishing performance standards for employees and taking corrective measures to implement those standards. - For state employees this experience is interpreted at the level of a Environmental Protection Park and Recreation Supervisor 2, Environmental Protection Park and Recreation Supervisor 1, Maintenance Supervisor 1 (all parentheticals except for Adaptive Medical Equipment), Maintenance Supervisor 2 , Environmental Protection Program Specialist 1 (Operations Management) or Environmental Protection Maintainer 3. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED - College training in park management, outdoor recreation, leisure studies, forest recreation, natural resources management, public administration or a closely related field may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.
