Senior Manager, Strategic Communications (grant funded) AAP is Hiring! Senior Manager, Strategic Communications (grant funded) The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is seeking a Senior Manager, Strategic Communications in our Washington, DC office. This individual will lead our rapid response communications efforts in support of AAP’s vaccine communications work, serving as the key AAP point of contact during communication crises, breaking news, and misinformation challenges. This individual will have expertise in media relations, social media, and content creation. They will convene and facilitate collaboration meetings with external partners to create impactful, evidence-based messages for diverse audiences. The ideal candidate will have at least five years’ related experience in strategic communications, public relations, or political campaigns, including developing and driving rapid response communications strategies. Experience managing external agencies and working with external partners preferred. Capitol Hill or other policy experience a plus. A bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or related discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience required. This individual must be able to assume a full range of delegated responsibilities, work both independently and as part of a team, exercise good judgment, take initiative, collaborate effectively with various internal and external constituents, and contribute to fostering an inclusive culture where everyone feels valued and respected. A strong technical acumen is essential with proficiency in MS Office and experience with virtual meeting platforms (e.g., WebEx, Teams) preferred. Some travel and evening work required, as well as, the ability to be flexible with work schedule to accommodate physician’s availability. Hybrid working arrangement of 40% on-site at our downtown office in Northwest DC.
