Job Description
Executive Director
Develops and executes a Site strategic plan which aligns with the organizational strategic plan and leads the operation of a quality, outcome-oriented program that meets the needs of the community it serves. Directs public relations, advocacy, and outreach efforts to enhance organizational image and further the mission of the organization through community relations and advocacy.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

▪️Oversees and supports safe and effective provision of services
▪️Requires employees to adhere to policies related to safety and boundaries with service recipients.
▪️Attends safety and abuse risk management training as assigned.
▪️Provides employees with on-going supervision and education related to safety and abuse risk.
▪️Responds quickly and confidentially to reports of suspicious or inappropriate behavior.
▪️Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements.
▪️Directs site operations
▪️Develops and executes a strategic plan for the Site in alignment with the National strategic direction.
▪️Establishes business objectives and develops strategic plans for all programs and staff that are aligned with overall strategic goals of the organization.
▪️Communicates the strategic direction clearly to staff, the Board of Directors, and community stakeholders.
▪️Formulates financial plans and manages the budget and utilization of available funds effectively in operating the Site.
▪️Establishes, supports, and oversees implementation of effective local fundraising strategies.
▪️Ensures adherence to organizational policies and collaborates effectively with national support services functions.
▪️Utilizes available marketing tools and resources effectively.
▪️Operates quality, outcome-oriented programs which align with the Boys Town model.
▪️Ensures that the program provides the types of services required and serves the appropriate number of children to meet the needs of the community.
▪️Ensures that the program results in successful outcomes for the children and families served.
▪️Effectively recruits, manages, develops, and retains staff through activities that promote program quality, build team morale, and advance the mission of the organization.
▪️Ensures the safety and integrity of programs by monitoring safety systems.
▪️Reviews feedback on a regular basis from consumers of organizational services including agency personnel, school officials, youth, and parents of youth and makes adjustments as necessary.
▪️Positions the Site for prominence in the community through advocacy and outreach efforts, public relations activities, and community involvement.
▪️Provides education and communication to external stakeholders including civic leaders, government officials, and child care professionals about the guiding philosophies of the organization.
▪️Directs program and public relations activities designed to improve organizational image and relations with both donors and the community.
▪️Identifies, develops, and maintains effective relationships with key members of the community to benefit advocacy initiatives.
▪️Differentiates the organization within the community through the demonstration of high-quality programs.
▪️Serves as a spokesperson for the organization by participating in community activities and events, making formal presentations, and working cooperatively with other key organizations.
▪️Collaborates with Site Board of Directors, as applicable.
▪️Engages in Board development activities including the planning and facilitation of Board meetings, committee development, and clarifying relationships between Site staff and Board members.
▪️Communicates key issues in a timely and consistent manner to the Board and Board committees.
▪️Recruits diverse Board members that have contacts with financial and community resources and will promote and support the strategic direction of the Site.
▪️Ensures that Board members actively support Site activities/events and spend time with children and families served.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

▪️Comprehensive knowledge of the child welfare and juvenile justice system and other social services systems of the state in which the Site resides.
▪️Strong knowledge and skills in strategic management and implementing strategic plans.
▪️High level of analytical skills and attention to detail.
▪️Ability to set goals, create and implement action plans, and evaluate the process and results.
▪️Demonstrated leadership ability and skilled in developing strong relationships with key public and private stakeholders.
▪️Strong conflict resolution and decision-making skills.
▪️Strong verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and writing.
▪️Knowledge of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the organization.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

▪️Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Education, Business, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
▪️Master's degree required.
▪️Minimum of 7 years’ experience in child welfare, juvenile justice or other social services organizations required.
▪️Minimum of 5 years leadership experience required.
▪️Ability to provide own transportation to complete travel requirements of the job required.
▪️Other Duties: This job description incorporates the essential functions and duties required for this position. However, other duties may be required and assigned at times and as determined by a supervisor in order to meet the needs of the organization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT:

▪️Position is relatively sedentary in a normal office administrative environment involving minimum exposure to physical risks.
▪️Will use office equipment such as a computer/laptop, monitor, keyboard, and a general workstation set-up.

The site also works with the state of Florida to combat child abuse and neglect through one short-term Intervention and Assessment center. Community Support Services include Children in Need of Services/Family in Need of Services and Common Sense Parenting® classes. Nearly 1,200 children were served and impacted by Boys Town Central Florida services in 2024.
