Professor of Philosophy - Ancient
Tenure-Track/Tenured (Open-Rank) Professor of Philosophy position

The Department of Philosophy at Emory University invites applications for a full-time, open rank faculty position specializing in ancient philosophy. Application deadline: December 14, 2025. PhD required by time of appointment.

Duties include conducting and publishing philosophical research (publication expectations are in keeping with Emory’s standing as an R1 institution), typically teaching 3 undergraduate and 1 graduate course per year (2/2 teaching load, semester system), advising a diverse student body, and rotating into departmental leadership roles as commensurate with rank, along with other normal non-teaching service duties. Salary competitive. Anticipated start date: August 1, 2026.

The philosophy department at Emory University offers two vibrant undergraduate majors and a highly selective PhD program.
