Since her birth in Washington, DC, to years spent in Burlington, NC, Alexis Mumphrey has made it her mission to strive for her goals, which were nothing less than her grandest dreams. After graduating from Walter M. Williams High School Alexis was accepted in North Carolina Central University School of Business where she received her Bachelor degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance.

While completing her undergraduate studies, Alexis was an active member of the National Association of Black Accountants and the Financial Management Society. Between working with various non-profit organizations in Durham, NC, she also had time to volunteer over 150 hours of community service with other non-profits and small businesses. Alexis has always made a commitment to give back to her community and be an active participant and advocate for change and progress in underprivileged communities. In 2010, while working for Drakeford, Scott, and Associates, Alexis submitted a successful Out-of-School Time Learning grant application on behalf of Delegate Gerron Levi and the Collective Banking Group to provide a free summer math program to underprivileged children in Prince George�s County Maryland.

When asked why she chose her HBCU North Carolina Central University, Alexis states that NCCU taught her how to be a �soaring eagle�. She credits her university for preparing her for the �real world�, teaching her how to be prepared professionally for job interviews, how to network successfully, while allowing her to learn who she is, where she comes from, and most importantly, where she is going.

As for now Alexis is making her strides in Corporate Accounting with one of the largest Engineering companies in the world. What began as a 6-week summer internship transitioned into a semester length position during her senior year and then full-time employment upon graduation. Alexis currently works as a CIT/ZINT Financial Analyst, and holds certifications in both Credit Risk Management and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Alexis is currently preparing for the GRE Exam, which she plans to take in the fall. As for graduate school, Alexis plans to study Public Policy and relocate to Washington, DC. She believes this will allow her to use her undergraduate skill sets in the areas of financial management theory and practice with her philanthropic passion to become a better asset to her community.

Current Whereabouts:

Painting, cultural arts, philanthropic activities, politics, and networking.

Life & Professional Aspirations:

I am currently preparing for the GRE Exam and researching graduate programs. I plan to study Public Policy and relocate to Washington, DC.
