Posted By: Kennette Burgess on February 23, 2009 FEATURED Content Edward "Eddie" Gregg was as an outstanding defensive back who was an All-CIAA selection in 1972 and 1973. He is the WSSU career interception leader and holds the single game record with five interceptions in one game (5) and the record for interceptions in a season with 13. He was a four year starter in football. Eddie was a two sport s tar at Winston-Salem State University, as he was also a member of the 1970 CIAA Championship Basketball Team. Eddie also holds the record for rebounds in a single game with 31. He was a member of the 1971 Southern Division Championship Football Team. He went on to have a career as a professional prize fighter. He was a former number one ranked heavyweight contender of the World Boxing Council and World Boxing Association and a two time Golden Glove Champion. He currently resides in Winston-Salem.
