Posted By: Hija Chang on May 07, 2012 FEATURED Content Overview: In New Bedford, MA, only one in twenty students make it to college. Alma del Mar Charter School aims to change this. Alma del Mar is an inclusive, K-8 Expeditionary Learning charter school that puts students on a college trajectory and challenges them to be service-minded leaders. By engaging in a rigorous academic program with an emphasis on meaningful work, our students will master essential skills and content, take ownership of their learning and think boldly while addressing complex academic and community issues. We believe that all of our students can achieve at high levels and will support them in doing the hard work necessary for success. We also believe that as our students develop an ethic of service, they will be inspired to do their best work in school and beyond. We are entering our second year and will serve scholars in grades K-3 in the 2012-13 school year. Founding Associate Teacher Role: Our Associate Teacher role is designed to give talented individuals new to the teaching profession a hands-on introduction to the craft.
