I am apart of the University Honors Program, Phi Eta Sigma Honors Society, The National Society of Leadership and Success, The National Council of Negro Women inc., Pre-Alumni Council, Miss Pep Club 2014-2015, Hip’Notyze Dance Troupe, NAACP, Co-Host for the Morning Glory Radio Show on WTST the blaze, Miss Zeta Alpha Chapter 2015-2016, Junior class secretary for the 75th Administration of SGA, and one of the Live Above Scholarship Award recipients. Leisure Activities: In my leisure time I enjoy reading my Bible, writing quotes of inspiration, dancing and singing, and most of all inspiring others to be great. Career Goals: Become a journalist, motivational speaker, a multi business owner, and continue to build my nonprofit project I-N-SPIRE where it's mission is to serve, mentor and lead our future leaders. What is your most memorable contribution as a Campus Queen?: I have a plethora of memorable moments from Inspirational Wednesday quotes to uplift the campus every Wednesday, to every event that I have hosted on campus! The one that changed my outlook on life was being able to represent my school in the Miss HBCU Hall of Fame Competition. For the first time in my life, I performed a monologue and executed it tremendously well. No one knew that Hall of Fame was my first competitive competition and pageant. There were many long hours spent trying to learn the monologue, long nights and early mornings of crying and wanting to give up, praying, fasting, reading my bible, stressing about finishing school work and more. I vividly remember rehearsing so much to the best of my ability and a former Miss TSU, Michele Wilkins said, "Well Alicia, this is not good enough, I know that you can do better!" In the end I won 4th place runner up as well as a scholarship! There wasn't anyone in the world that could tell me that my hard work was in vain. When I competed I not only competed for Tennessee State University, but I competed for those who didn't believe that their dreams and goals were possible. I competed for those young ladies with low self-esteem and anxiety issues. Most importantly I competed to show everyone that my God will always show up on time! The Miss HBCU Hall Of Fame Competition taught me that fear is the enemy, and faith will take you where fear can't break you! Read more at EBONY http://www.ebony.com/contestants/alicia-jo...
