Event Planning, DJ'ing, and Playwriting Career Goals: I have always dreamed of having my own non profit organization and now I am doing all that I can to start it. The many connections I have made through my major, on campus, and community involvements have been a great deal of help with my dream coming true. This dream is not just about me but more importantly leading souls, and young hearts to Jesus the Christ. This is my goal, and to accomplish this goal I will be having my first Women's Empowerment Luncheon on December 28th, 2016 in my hometown New Haven, CT. This will allow me to engage other women with similar faith as well as students who are still undecided about their futures to the vision of uplifting our community one student at a time. What is your most memorable contribution as a Campus Queen?: I tend to get stuck on questions like this because being the first Miss Virginia Union University to address the entire student body, staff, and faculty, in our University's Chapel service will be something I never forget, it was a dream come true. But I would have to say my Bricks Broken program overpowered that memory because of it's impact on my peers. Watching everyone smile, laugh, and some even cry as they participated in this symbolic event to vow to themselves with their classmates as their accountability partners that they would no longer be held bound by anything really bought a joy to my heart like never before. People who didn't know each other left friends, people who don't normally participate in on campus activities came out and blossomed, it was amazing. That will always be my most memorable contribution as queen because it wasn't only for me but to help set free my peers as well. Read more at EBONY http://www.ebony.com/contestants/larae-gil...
