Posted By: How May I Help You NC on January 18, 2017 Hometown: Columbia, SC Year in School: Senior Major/Minor: Biology Major/Chemistry Minor Expected Graduation: 2017 Extracurricular Activities: Prior to becoming Miss South Carolina State University I was a member of the Chamgpagne Dance Team, SCSU Health Professions Society, Men Against Cancer, SCSU Honors College, Golden Key International Honors Society, and founder of Bulldogs Bringing Health Awareness to the Community. I volunteer with various church organizations, mentor young ladies, and donate my time and effort to the Lupus Foundation of America South Carolina Community Partner. Leisure Activities: My leisure activities include dancing, singing, gardening, traveling, cooking new recipes, and working with children. Career Goals: Upon graduation I plan to attend medical school with hopes of pursuing a blossoming and philanthropic career in obstetrics and gynecology. I am also entertaining the possibility of pursung a career in Lupus research. What is your most memorable contribution as a Campus Queen?: In late October I hosted a Women's Legacy Empowerment Luncheon in which I had the pleasure of meeting and learning life lessons from SC House representative Patricia Moore Henegan (D). My platform for my reign was PRIDE, which stood for Personal Responsibility In Delivering Excellence. I felt that a luncheon that brought other young queens together by means of motivational empowerment would nurture the ambition for greatness that lies within them; thus promoting the PRIDE movement. Not only was Rep. Henegan honest and relatable, but she was also inspirational and resilient. We were charged to remember our struggle, reclaim our purpose, and redefine our image in hopes of making the best decisions towards living more fulfilling and happy lives. I too was able to relate to the ladies and share my story of dedication to achievement in spite of many obstacles. I was sure to remind them that obstacles are the stepping stones to success and that with hard work, dedication, and faith in God, all things are possible.
