Jaemica Logan, Miss Harris-Stowe State University

Posted By: Hija Chang on January 19, 2017

Hometown: St. Louis, MO

Year in School: Senior

Major/Minor: Educational Studies/Psychology

Expected Graduation: 2018

Extracurricular Activities: Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., National Council of Negro Women, Students Working Against Trauma, Honeycomb Majorette Dance Team
Leisure Activities: Singing and songwriting, Dancing, Community Service, Reading, spending time with family

Career Goals: After graduating with my Bachelors of Science in Education I plan to work with at risk youth at a non-for-profit organization with an integration of music and art therapy. While advancing in my career I aspire to attain my Master's in Counseling.

What is your most memorable contribution as a Campus Queen?: Becoming Miss Harris-Stowe State University has been a very rewarding experience, and an opportunity to grow and step outside my comfort zone.

My most memorable contribution is having a platform in professional, as well as comfortable environments where conversations transpire with the young ladies on campus. I've been granted the space to share my experience and story, and many have expressed to me that I give them hope and something to look up to because they can identify and relate to my struggles, and blessings. Growing up I would often second guess myself, and didn't believe in my worth. I am an example that it is not about where you start, because we all have flaws. I strive to be transparent so that my peers will be inspired to tap into their greatest potential, because all of my mentors pushed me to where I am today and encouraged me to take leaps and step outside my comfort zone.
