Posted By: Rashida Williamson on November 03, 2017 Rashida Williamson, a native of the Palmetto State of Irmo, South Carolina is a graduating senior majoring in Political Science with a minor in History. She proudly serves as the 29th Miss Clark Atlanta University for the 2017-2018 scholastic year. She stands firmly on her platform, “T.I.A.R.A.S.”, (Transforming Individuals Above Regularly Accepting Standards) to assist women and men into becoming their own superheroes. She shares her passion to be the driving force for Justice, Love, Peace, and Equality by exemplifying TIARAS. Ms. Williamson is serving her second term as an SGA Executive Board Officer for the Student Government Association also known as, "The Cultivating Panther Administration”. She is the presiding officer of the CCO Kings and Queens Coalition. Prior to, she served as the SGA Executive Board Secretary and board member for the 2016-2017 school year. Ms. Williamson is a prominent member of the Isabella T. Jenkins, Ph.D. Honors and Scholars Program, Dean's List Scholar, and honoree of the 35th Annual First-Year Academic Awards Program, and three-time Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges® program. She served as an ITJ Honors mentor and a graduate of the Red, Black and Gray LEADership Series 2015. Formerly, a NCAA Division II student-athlete of Clark Atlanta University Women's Volleyball Team, she also became a two-time SIAC All-Academic Honors athlete and four-time Scholar-Athlete. Ms. Williamson also served as Miss Sophomore 2015-2016 and an Executive Board Officer for the Sophomore Class Council. She has served as the HBCU Spotlight Host for the HBCU Queens segment of The HBCU Nation Radio Show and 2015 Charged Up Panel at Morehouse College. She is the originator of the first annual "The Royal Entertainment AUC Rap Battle" (2015), "Ask The Royals!" (2017), and "For Women Only: A Cup of Tea" (2017). She represented her university in the Competition of HBCU College Queens for Miss NBCA Hall of Fame (2017). She served as a student-chairperson for the Homecoming Coronation Committee (2017) and a senior advisor for the "Men of the Year" GQ Edition (2018). As a student delegate, Ms. Williamson attended Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Leadership Institute, Andrew Young Emerging Leaders Summer Institute launched by the National Black College Alumni (NBCA) Hall of Fame Foundation, Inc., Tailor Made Royal Retreat – HBCU Leadership Conference, and three consecutive years at the Clark Atlanta University Student Leadership Institute. She holds membership in Pi Gamma Mu - International Honor Society in Social Sciences, Clark Atlanta University Pre-Law Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International District 17, the Society of Scholars, Kappa Theta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Mu National Honor Society, and Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Science Honor Society. Ms. Williamson is a proud member of Clark Atlanta University “Pearl Bearing” Sigma Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She actively serves on the Executive Board and as Chair of the Political Awareness and Involvement for her chapter. She successfully sphere headed the first “Letters from the Community” Delta Sigma Theta Action Forum to educate on our Georgia Legislators and Legislation. Her national experience was during the 28th Annual Delta Days in The Nation's Capital, and she represented her chapter at the “Deltas Days at the State Capitol” for Georgia. Ms. Williamson's professional experience includes the CBCF Congressional Internship Program with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Inc. She recently served as an intern in the Washington D.C. office of the Honorable John Lewis, U.S. Representative of the 5th Congressional District of Georgia. During the 2017 Atlanta Mayoral Election, she served on the "Believe 60" campaign committee, as Campaign Scheduler for Atlanta City Council President Ceasar Mitchell, the 2017 Mayoral Candidate for City of Atlanta, Georgia. Currently, she is serving her third-year with the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus, Inc. during the 154th Georgia General Assembly, as Legislative Aide in the office of Senator Michael "Doc" Rhett, 33rd Georgia State Senate. Ms. Williamson has been featured in Clark Atlanta Magazine Spring '16 edition with an exclusive interview about her apprenticeship at the Capitol. Upon graduation, Ms. Williamson plans to extend her postgraduate studies in law, public policy, and politics. Ultimately, her plans are to serve the public affairs community, support social activism and non-profit organizations, and provide legal services through her own management consulting firm.
