Posted By: Hija Chang on November 16, 2018 Gadsden State Community College is one of the thousands of schools across the country that took part in celebrating International Education Week. International Education Week provides the opportunity for international students to showcase their culture from their countries in an effort to educate their fellow classmates to learn and exchange experiences. This particular gathering was called the International Tea event. Cultural hot beverages and desserts were shared while students learned common phrases in a variety of languages including Arabic, Chinese, French, Dutch, Turkmen and more. Director of International Programs Becky Duckett believes that although many might not notice it, but Gadsden is a special place. Duckett who is also the Director of the Alabama Language Institute, explains what the institute has been offering students for more than 43 years. Gadsden State has welcomed more than 6,000 international students from 139 countries to their campuses for 50 years, which is almost unheard from a community college. http://www.gadsdenstate.edu/ If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
