Dillard University: Meet the Newest Members of the Intercollegiate Athletic Committee

Dillard University: Meet the Newest Members of the Intercollegiate Athletic Committee
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on September 15, 2022

President Rochelle L. Ford, Ph.D., APR, has appointed Dorian Williams, dean of the College of Business, and Blair Condoll, assistant professor of political science, to serve as faculty athletic representatives and co-chairs on Dillard’s Intercollegiate Athletic Committee. The committee works in an advisory capacity to ensure that Dillard’s athletes meet all academic eligibility requirements set forth by the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

“Drs. Williams and Condoll are excellent faculty members who care deeply about our scholar athletes and will help ensure the University provides excellent support for them to excel in the classroom and in sports,” said Ford.

Being selected by Ford is an honor and privilege that Williams does not take lightly, and one that bears great responsibility. “I believe that this position requires an individual who values integrity, academic excellence amongst both faculty and students, and the spirit of competitive fortitude,” he said.

Williams is no stranger to the world of athletics. The sports enthusiast was a member of the basketball team and track and field team in high school. He also worked as an assistant basketball coach at his high school alma mater.

Condoll, who also has a passion for sports, considers it a great honor to serve on the committee. “I am humble to have been selected by Dr. Ford, who has placed a great deal of trust and confidence in my ability to perform such an important task,” he said.

Condoll’s background in the legal field, coupled with his experience as a faculty member and student organization advisor, gives him a qualifying advantage to fulfill the important task of certifying the academic eligibility of student athletes. “I strongly believe in the opportunities that our athletic programs have created for young Black men and women to obtain a first class education. I look forward to working with the coaches and staff to ensure that as we excel in athletics, our student athletes will also excel academically,” Condoll said.

The duo will help with the academic integrity of the University’s intercollegiate athletic programs by reviewing appropriate records to ensure decisions related to admissions, academic advising, and evaluation of academic performance are made in ways that are consistent with the primary academic mission of the institution.
