Hello everyone, my name is Aliyah Al-Islam! I'm a proud graduate of PVAMU, class of 2018. I graduated with a BS in Biology w/ a Minor in Chemistry. From day 1, I knew I wanted to be a medical physician but I didn't have any close contacts to properly guide me along the journey. It was a little later in my academic career I joined a medical academy--but I still continued to make decisions that didn't promote me as a proper medical school applicant. The good news is I'm currently a year 3 medical school student. And if I can help as many future physicians (especially those from the underrepresented groups) find their way to becoming a physician, I will.

I created a youtube channel with the main objective of representation because only 5% of US physicians are Black/African American. I also created it with the hopes to inspire--because many students will give up on their dreams after many rejections, feelings of inadequacy, or a few bumps in the road. But I am proof that does not have to be the end of your story. And lastly, I created this channel because I attended a Caribbean Medical School, which many students fail to consider when they can't receive a US medical school acceptance letter but still desire to be a M.D. I discuss all these things and more on my youtube channel. Please share with individuals in your life who are on the pre-med route, and also share if you'd just love to see a young black woman striving for greatness. Your support is greatly appreciated.
