Shaw University Signs Historic Technology Articulation Agreement with Wake Tech
|
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on October 07, 2022 In the spirit of academic cooperation and with the goal of offering students additional pathways for academic success, Shaw University and Wake Tech Community College signed a historic technology articulation agreement beginning in the fall 2022 semester – allowing WTCC course credits to transfer from Wake Tech to Shaw toward completion of a four-year college degree. The terms of the agreement apply to standard course-based degree programs for undergraduate students. According to the agreement, any Wake Tech student enrolling at Shaw may transfer up to 70 credit hours toward a bachelor’s degree. All academic coursework completed at Wake Tech for which a student has earned a grade of C- or higher is fully transferable to Shaw University. Transfer students can complete four-year degrees in Computer Science – General Concentration or in Computer Science – Cyber Operations Concentration. “We are very excited about this new partnership with Shaw University,” said Wake Tech President Dr. Scott Ralls. “This is a great opportunity for Wake Tech graduates to pursue advanced degrees. It will help them stay workforce forward – to keep moving up as they achieve their educational goals.” Wake Tech is North Carolina’s largest community college, serving more than 70,000 adults annually, with six campuses (a seventh campus under construction), two training centers, multiple community sites, and a comprehensive array of online learning options. Wake Tech is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and offers more than 250 associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates that prepare students for university transfer or immediate employment. Wake Tech also serves high school students at four Cooperative Innovative High Schools in partnership with Wake County Public Schools. Dr. Paulette Dillard, President of Shaw University, said: “This new partnership and technology articulation agreement with Wake Technical Community College is a significant milestone for both institutions and a great opportunity for students seeking to complete a four-year degree program. By combining our strengths in technology-based training, Shaw and Wake Tech are enhancing workforce development and securing the pipeline for skilled technology professionals in the future.” Shaw University, located in Raleigh, North Carolina, is the first historically Black institution of higher education founded in North Carolina and is among the oldest in the nation. The University was founded in 1865 by Henry Martin Tupper. Dr. Paulette Dillard currently serves as the University’s 18th President.
