Juniques Encourages Micro and Small Businesses of Maricopa County Cities to Benefit from South Phoenix Light Rail Project

Glendale, AZ – As the South Phoenix Light Rail Project nears its completion in 2025, Juniques is urging micro and small businesses across Maricopa County to seize the opportunities this transformative infrastructure project presents. The South Central Extension/Downtown Hub, a significant addition to the Valley Metro Rail system, promises to enhance connectivity and economic growth in the region.

A New Era of Connectivity

The South Phoenix Light Rail Project, extending from Downtown Phoenix to Baseline Road, will add 4.9 miles of track and seven new stations. This ambitious project aims to connect South Phoenix residents and businesses with the broader Phoenix metropolitan area, fostering greater accessibility and economic integration.

Opportunities for Micro and Small Businesses

Juniques, a community-focused organization dedicated to economic empowerment, recognizes the potential benefits for micro and small businesses in Maricopa County. The light rail extension is expected to increase foot traffic and customer accessibility, providing a boost to local businesses along the route.

Key Benefits Include:

Increased Foot Traffic: The new light rail stations will bring more visitors and potential customers to the area, benefiting retail shops, restaurants, and service providers.

Enhanced Accessibility: Improved public transportation options will make it easier for customers to reach businesses, potentially increasing sales and customer loyalty.

Economic Growth: The project is expected to stimulate local economies by attracting new businesses and encouraging investment in the area.

Support for Businesses During Construction

Valley Metro has implemented several support programs to assist businesses during the construction phase. These include construction mitigation and marketing, business consulting services, and direct financial assistance1. The Small Business Financial Assistance Program has already provided over 200 grants, totaling more than $1.1 million, to help businesses navigate the challenges of construction.

How to Get Involved

Juniques encourages micro and small businesses to take proactive steps to benefit from the light rail project:

Stay Informed: Keep up-to-date with project developments and timelines through Valley Metro’s website and community meetings.

Apply for Assistance: Take advantage of the financial and consulting services offered by Valley Metro to support your business during construction.

Collaborate: Join local business associations and networks to share resources, ideas, and strategies for maximizing the benefits of the light rail extension.

Looking Ahead

As the South Phoenix Light Rail Project moves closer to completion, Juniques remains committed to supporting the economic prosperity of micro and small businesses in Maricopa County. By leveraging the opportunities presented by this major infrastructure project, businesses can look forward to a brighter, more connected future.
