Bennett College leaders recently met with members of the Black Design Collective in Los Angeles to explore a transformative collaboration that could expand creative and entrepreneurial pathways for Bennett students and the wider community. Interim President Dr. Teresa Hardee, Chief Academic Officer Dr. Toneyce Randolph, Chief Global Communications & Experience Officer Phanalphie Rhue, and Director of Alumnae and Donor Engagement Martina Gibbs-Dowdy visited the Collective’s headquarters in the heart of L.A.’s Fashion District. The Bennett team met with: * Kevan Hall, President of the Black Design Collective and renowned designer formerly of the House of Halston * TJ Walker, Co-founder of Cross Colours and Treasurer of the Collective * Ta’Nisha Cameron, Affiliate Member of the Collective and Vice President at The Burke Management Firm * Deborah Lee, Art Director at Kevan Hall Designs and BDC Advisory Board Member * Linda Jones, Principal Publicist at Mass Appeal PR The discussion centered on the possibility of establishing a design studio and micro-manufacturing hub on Bennett’s campus—an initiative that would build on the College’s historic strengths in creativity and craftsmanship while preparing students for emerging careers in design, technology, and the creative industries. This meeting represents an important step toward future partnership and reflects Bennett College’s continued commitment to innovation, leadership development, and experiential learning. #BennettCollege #BennettBellesDoItWell #BlackDesignCollective #CreativeLeadership #DesignInnovation #HBCUs #WomenLead If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
