A Piece of B-CU History Heads to the Obama Presidential Center

Posted By: HBCU CONNECT on March 12, 2026 Check out this video from Bethune Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida! A powerful piece of Bethune-Cookman University history is heading to Chicago. Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune’s historic cane—used by our founder in her later years—will be featured in the exhibits at the Barack Obama Presidential Center, opening June 19 on the South Side of Chicago. As part of a larger civil rights and education exhibition, the artifact will help tell the story of leadership, resilience, and the lasting impact of HBCUs.
