N.C. A&T Alumnae Named Among Triad Business Journal's 2026 Outstanding Women in Business

N.C. A&T Alumnae Named Among Triad Business Journal
Posted By: Will Moss on March 26, 2026

EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. - Two accomplished North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University alumnae have been recognized among the most influential business leaders in the region, earning spots on Triad Business Journal's prestigious 2026 Outstanding Women in Business list.

Shawanna Nicole Moore-Geter and Jamilla Pinder were selected among just 25 honorees for their exceptional leadership and contributions across different sectors - mental health and community engagement.

Shawanna Nicole Moore-Geter: Mental Health Advocate

Moore-Geter, who earned her M.S. in clinical mental health counseling from N.C.

A&T in 2014
, is the founder of Counseling With a Purpose - a groundbreaking mental and behavioral health practice that's making therapy more accessible and culturally responsive.

Her practice offers:

  • Goal-oriented, trauma-informed counseling
  • Support for anxiety, depression, grief, stress and trauma
  • Personalized, culturally responsive care
  • Virtual services designed to meet clients where they are

This isn't Moore-Geter's first recognition - Triad Business Journal previously honored her as a member of their 2023 Class of 30 Under 30.

Jamilla Pinder: Community Engagement Leader

Pinder, a 2019 B.S. graduate in agribusiness and food industry management, serves as director of community engagement and impact at Cone Health Foundation. Her work focuses on building bridges between healthcare organizations and historically marginalized communities.

Her impact extends beyond healthcare:

  • Centers community voice and trust-building in her foundation work
  • Leads equity-focused engagement initiatives
  • Served on Greensboro City Council from February through December 2025
  • Appointed to fill the term of fellow A&T alumna Yvonne Johnson

The Triad Business Journal will celebrate all honorees - representing nonprofits, manufacturing, education and professional services - at a special event on Thursday, April 16, at 5:30 p.m. at Cadillac Garage in Greensboro. The award winners will also be featured online and in a special print publication on Friday, April 24.

This recognition highlights the ongoing impact of N.C. A&T graduates across diverse industries. As the nation's largest historically Black university and one of the top 25 "Most Innovative" universities in America according to U.S. News & World Report, N.C. A&T continues to produce leaders who drive positive change in their communities and industries.

Congratulations to both Moore-Geter and Pinder for this well-deserved recognition of their outstanding contributions to business and community leadership!
