Benedict College continues to make waves in higher education excellence while preparing for their beloved annual community celebration. The historic HBCU in Columbia, South Carolina, is proud to announce their 37th Annual Harambee Festival scheduled for Saturday, April 18th, from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM.

What is Harambee?
The word "Harambee" comes from Swahili meaning "all pull together" -- perfectly capturing the spirit of community, unity, and collective achievement that Benedict College embodies.

This year's festival promises to be a spectacular celebration showcasing the rich culture, traditions, and academic excellence that Benedict College is known for. The day-long event will feature:

  • Cultural performances and music celebrating African American heritage
  • Student organization showcases highlighting campus involvement
  • Community vendors and local businesses
  • Food, fun, and family activities for all ages
  • Alumni networking opportunities

A Legacy of Excellence

Founded in 1870, Benedict College has been a beacon of educational opportunity and community leadership for over 150 years.

The college continues to demonstrate remarkable progress in student success metrics, with improved graduation rates and enhanced academic programs that prepare students for leadership in their chosen fields.

The Harambee Festival serves as both a celebration of the college's rich heritage and a showcase of the dynamic, diverse community that makes Benedict College special. Students, faculty, alumni, and community members come together to celebrate achievements, share experiences, and build lasting connections.

Benedict College students and alumni continue to make their mark across industries -- from business and healthcare to education and public service. The festival provides an excellent opportunity for current students to connect with successful alumni and learn about career opportunities.
