Posted By: HBCU CONNECT on November 24, 2025 Check out this video from University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, Maryland! We’re told that college is where we’re supposed to figure everything out - who we are, what we want to do, and who we’ll become along the way. But the truth is, growth isn’t always easy to see when you’re in the middle of it. In Growing Pains, students at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) share what it really feels like to grow, adapt, and find themselves in college. From friendships that keep you grounded to mentors who challenge you to do better, this short film captures the real experiences that shape who we become. Each student’s story is different, but the message is the same — college isn’t something we do alone. Growth takes time, reflection, and the people who help us along the way. Created by UMES student filmmaker Dillon Austin, Growing Pains explores what it means to find balance, connection, and purpose while learning to embrace change. In this video, you’ll hear: * Honest reflections from UMES students on change, challenges, and growth * How mentors and friends inspire students to keep going * What it means to find your voice and confidence at an HBCU * A reminder that growth doesn’t always feel like progress — until you look back More UMES Videos: /@discoverumes Hawk Pride! 🦅 #UMES #UniversityOfMarylandEasternShore #HBCUPride #CollegeLife #StudentStories #GrowingPains If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
