The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope has launched, and NCCU is along for the ride! 🚀 As the only HBCU among the 14 universities and other entities participating in the Duke-led consortium, NCCU faculty and students are part of the research effort supporting this historic mission. The consortium will use data from Roman, including observations of supernovae, to help scientists better understand our universe. And NCCU’s involvement doesn’t end with the launch. NCCU researchers will continue working with consortium partners to interpret Roman’s data in the years ahead. With a field of view 100 times larger than Hubble’s, Roman will give scientists an unprecedented view of the cosmos, helping unlock mysteries surrounding dark matter, dark energy and the expansion of the universe. And the work is just beginning.
