Exclusive Rocket Lab Recruiting Event for Engineers and Technicians - Register Today!

Rocket Lab is opening the doors to its Wallops Island launch site for an exclusive, invite-only hiring event — and HBCU Connect's community of engineers and skilled technicians is encouraged to apply. The two-day event, hosted at the company's Launch Complexes 2 and 3 in late September, offers a rare, behind-the-scenes look at one of the most exciting frontiers in American industry: commercial spaceflight.

For anyone who has ever dreamed of building rockets for a living, this is the kind of opportunity that comes along once in a career. Selected candidates will tour Rocket Lab's launch pads and manufacturing facilities, sit down face-to-face with the company's engineering teams, and interview one-on-one with department leaders. In Rocket Lab's own words, this is a chance "to do meaningful work you'll be talking about for the rest of your life."

Event Snapshot
Host: Rocket Lab
Location: Wallops Island, Virginia — Launch Complexes 2 & 3
When: Two-day event, late September 2026
Format: Invite-only — candidates must apply to be considered
Who should apply: Engineers and technicians across the U.S.
Travel: Accommodations may be provided for selected non-local candidates

Rocket Lab is searching for problem-solvers who thrive on complex technical challenges and want to help build the future of space. While the company is focused on the aerospace field, it is also open to talented professionals from other large-build industries such as shipbuilding and defense, where the hands-on engineering and fabrication skills translate directly to launch operations.

Open positions include:

  • Testing Engineers — Vehicle, Avionics, and Launch Pad
  • Ground Systems Engineers
  • Vehicle Integration Engineers
  • Mechanical Technicians
  • Senior Vehicle Integration and Test Technicians
  • Fluids Engineers
  • Propulsion Engineers

The event is open to talented candidates from across the country, and Rocket Lab has indicated that travel accommodations may be provided for non-local candidates who are selected — so location should not stop you from throwing your hat in the ring. For HBCU students and alumni pursuing careers in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, and systems engineering, as well as the skilled technicians who keep complex hardware running, this is a direct line to a leader in the commercial space race.

How to apply: Because this is an invite-only event, candidates must apply in advance to be considered. Submit your application through Rocket Lab's official event page here: Apply for the Rocket Lab Wallops Island Hiring Event.
