i figured we should post when we see any flyers or postings for interest meetings at our different schools. it could help prospects that may have just missed the flyers or just werent paying attention. this would probably work better in the seperate school forums but im new so i cant get in any. i think this is a good idea though.
im gonna throw in my 2 cents on this 1...
i personally believe that if u REALLY want to join an organization u should keep ur eyes open and pay attention to ALL the fliers around ur school at ALL times. I dont think that some 1 should have to bring it to ur attention or REMIND you. I think that if ur hungry and u really want something u search and hunt untill u get it.
thats my 2 cents...if u disagree fine...thats my beliefs.

Not a good idea. First of all, if one is interested in the organization, he or she will always have their eyes peeled--or will have eyes peeled for them. Case in point: I was in San Diego for a biomedical research conference when the interest meeting flyer went up. I found out when I came back--four days after they had gone up. Of course, there were no flyers to be found anywhere on campus by then. However, I "Sherlocked" and got all my info...and here I am!
The point is, where there is a will, there is a way. If you want it bad enough, you can get it. But nothing is given, all is earned. You want to be an XYZ? Do your own work! Even if by chance you weren't paying attention, enough people will be talking about it for you to get the info. Good luck!

Why don't you try to get to know some of the members of the organization?
Interest meeting flyers don't mean shyt. . .you can still get turned down if the members don't know anything about you. But if they like/respect you, they will probably make sure you know when everything is going down.
Back in the day, those who were already "rollin" would steal the interest meeting flyers to make sure no "slackers" got onto the line.
I agree with some of the things that have been said, but not all of them...I think personally that going to all (or as many as you can) programs the organization that you are interested in has. But as far as getting to know the people, that I find a little shaky. I know instances where a friend of mine knew people in the organization they were interested in and in a way, it worked because they are in that organization. However, I know a couple of people who tried to get to know members of an organization and got kinda put out there and unfortunately got their face played. Some of the organizations don't like it when people they don't know all of a sudden try to get to know them. It looks really obvious. I say, if you are interested in that ONE organization, make sure you are COMPLETELY sure before getting to know people because if you change your mind, or something happens, just in case you didn't know, people talk. And do the research. Please do the research. Just a thought from me, because I hate for anyone to get played or embarassed, even if I dont know you...
Aww a newbie. . .
Anyway, to repeat what I said in the other thread. . .you get to know them by joining the same organizations as them. That way you can get those greeks used to seeing you and working with you.
NAACP, SGA, Honor Societies, Phi Beta Lambda, Gospel Choir, Pep Squad, City Clubs, Band . . . greeks are usually members of these groups anyway, and it shows that you want to be involved with your campus.

Now my 22 cents
On my campus, people tried to be sneaky. they'd put one flyer up and say if you didn't see the signs "Oh well, you weren't really interested". If people are really posting signs throughout campus, then yes students should one be aware and need to look for them. They also know through different programs and other activities on campus like someone else mentioned. But many groups already have people identified so those others looking for the signs may never see them.
There is one campus here in Ohio, it's more of a commuter campus. So to get those undergrads who may be great to join our groups, you have to place them in certain areas on campus. The res hall or cafe wouldn't do it. Some of them I talk to say they never see signs for programs, activities, or groups although interested. They go to student life and of course they tell them to look out for programs (which doesn't help them).
Again just my comments.
