Your referring to groups like Delteens and Kappa League? Out here, my friends have been told to NOT bring it up when they are in their interest meetings unless one of the org's members asks.. For example. My friend was in kappa league. This guy that was already a kappa had been in kappa league with him. When it came down to it, my friend had to be on his game a LOT mroe, because he was already taught respect for certain things pertaining to KAPsi and its members. So yeah... it all worked out for him, becuz he's a Kappa man now, but I don't know how it works at other places....
p.s.: Kappa Leaguers... Please do not bring your kanes to college...
I have never been fond of the teen groups and/or the high school frats (not step teams). I'm a strong believer in there are somethings that are best left for college.
Often times these young people come to school with a sense of entitlement, or even worse, they wear their DelTeen, Sigma Beta, Kappa League or Cheq Club (this was the AKA equivalent in our area) shirts as freshmen. You don't know if that's what you're going to pledge yet.
My organization shies away from this type of club, for those reasons and chooses to mentor without the exclusivity.
I agree with both comments. I actually had an instance where I was at school and I saw a girl with SGRho on her shirt and my LS went to her and all but it ended up being a Rhoer(our junior greek) and she was asking us questions about Sigma Gamma Rho and she was like, "Let's do the call!" That's when we decided to leave because I didn't know she know she DOES our call and she was becoming annyoing...but she still wears her shirt and she comes to events, but because she's a Rhoer doesn't mean she's automatic SGRho material. She has to attempt like everyone else.
First of all, I am not greek. I am from California and there was a "junior AKA" sorority at my high school and their colors were pink and black. Now cali has no HBCU's and they are lucky because if there were they would probably get called out. They had a line, hell week, the mirror thing, everything. I just sat back and shook my head because I thought it was so disrespectful. But then again there are no HBCU's in california or anywhere near there but if there were they would probably catch hell. All I know is they better not go to college wearing their "AKA" shirts or they will get called out by the REAL AKA's.
I havent really heard any complaints so far but I dont really know (I dont know about other people) a whole lot of AKA's by my way...Like someone else said some things are better left for college. its crazy though they have hand signals for each other and everything When I saw them acting all big headed like they ran ish when I was back in highschool I just shook my head and thought wait till u get to college. I'm not greek or anything but I still think they deserve some level of respect for their organizations...........Thats just something u dont do.
