Explain Auxilliary Groups Posted on 11-05-2004

I am still in high school and I want to get info on various sororities (sweets, angel, diamonds, pearls, doves). Can someone explain them to me? I already know about the main sororities. Don't get nasty either. I wanted to know so I asked.

Well, Speaking a member of an Aux, Groove GEM aux to Groove Phi Groove SFI There are different purposes going from aux to aux. Now just about all sororities will say that aux groups are nothing even though most of them were in aux also. We are here to help out which ever group we are bonded to. People don't like to admit it but aux can do just as much as sororities can do, but that doesn't make us a sorority, and it doesn't stop any aux member from becomming a part of a sorority. (Unless the sorority has something against aux) We do community service, step, stroll, have handsigns, calls, line names and numbers etc. When you get to college it is not a bad thing to ask. In reality some aux groups are better then some chapters of sororities. You also have to realize that aux do have a bad rep from people who don't understand and from people who just want to get rid of us. Dispite all of that there are many aux doing their things and taking in more members all the time. I hope that I gave you some insite and if you have more questions feel free to ask.!

I'm not trying to get "nasty" or anything, but could you explain what makes one "better" than the other?

lol. I'm being serious though. She stated facts about her aux org, which is cool. But then she threw in her opinion, passing it off as "reality". I don't have anything against aux groups or any other type of groups....to each their own. But, to me, saying that the aux group is better than the sorority is just as bad as the sorority saying they are better than the aux group.

In my post it say that aux are better than SOME CHAPTERS OF SORORITIES. Maybe I should have said some chapters of aux are better than some chapters of sororites. that is something that just happens from chap to chap. Some places sororities are not doing anything and are living up to the bad rep that they might already have, but then again vice versa. Some aux could be living up to there bad reps. It is all preference and it depends on how people want to look at things. Some people question why people would join an aux and then again some peolpe think that joining a sorority is stupid. It is to each his own but I am not saying that one is absolutly better than the other. Also it is nice to see a Swing, I never really talked to on before. They are non-existent in Chicago.

^^^oh, ok. It just seems like a pretty ambiguous statement to be followed by the phrase "in reality".....know what I mean. BTW, it's interesting to see a GEM on here....I've never really met one, being a neo and all.
