thisis something i conjured up bout two days ago sittin in this ethiopian lounge for open mic nite in my county..... just follow along, and of course feedback and constructive criticism is ALWAYS welcome, it strengthens mee.... 8) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Congo drums beat to speak of your Black beret oppression Expression that black power Will prevail In *cough* smokey cafes *cough, cough* Where blacks aren't allowed You sit in silence In protest? In turtlenecks In thought Wondering why pigs haven't come To put you in... The pen Is like solitary confinement Etched between Blue lines Red margins And White space That you enjoy using As a fortress To hide your Fortress mentality Salute! It's the Revolution You dig? But hold up jack Your black-beret-wearing-congo-drum-beatin'-poetry-verse-speaking Is not your own So stop claiming it With self-interested accomodations to Stroke Your ego It's hard to Come clean so Your whiteness precedes your pink flesh And in the end We all know That you beatniks had no rhythm until our revolution was televised So don't call yourself original
