Has anyone ever interned through Inroads?
I just participated in their Talent Pool for the Greater Baltimore Washington this weekend. So what's next is interviewing with the corporate companies.
Just wondering if anyone has already or is going through the same process.
man i need to come through here more often, im registered in inroads now....last year i was registered but i never interned...lets just say i was lazy...but they didnt ask for an interview since like for us we were automatically entered and just placed whereever....they assigned me for jacksonville Florida at some company...but i wanted ATL...but whats the exact question about inroads??....cause my honors program mate did inroads i think she worked for Pfizer corp.
I applied, but afterwards at a convocation she told us that the goal of the companies is to have you work for them permanently after college, so law school or medical school prospectives are not the best people for these internships. If it wasn't for my law school dreams, I would have participated.
:? i completely forgot i posted this...doink!!
I wanted to know if anyone was going through the actual process right now (ie. nat'l talent pool, inroads interview) Because coming up soon are going to be the interviews with the corporate sponsors.
SIDEBAR That talent pool...Lordy Jesus!! I thought I was gonna die in that thing. That day I was up from 5:30 am until 7:30pm. One break. no rests. Glad that's a one time deal.
I went to my INROADS interview on Thursday in Silver Spring. It wasn't too painful. I was slightly nervous but I knew the interview wasn't all that serious so I did well. Just gotta tweek that resume a lil more and then wait to be called for an interview.
What's a trip is that I can't even know what corporate company to want to work for because if they aren't asking for a PR major they will never see my resume.
But in the end, I pray that I do get placed because that oppourtunity would be so lovely...

Reconsider, PLEASE!
No-one is going to force you to work with them, yet the experience you gain from working in INROADS is very valuable. For those who do decide to work corporate, experience with INROADS can mean the difference between starting at 36,000 or starting at 50 - 60, 000 (which BTW is more than the average starting salary of both lawyers and doctors).
I interned for two years, and then fulfilled my obligations as a part of the NC Teaching Fellows Scholarship program. The experience helped a lot.

The recruiter made it seem like "If you want to go to medical or law school, don't even waste your time putting in an application," but next year, I'll reconsider going through the whole process. Thanks for your input!
Can someone explain to me what the talent pool consist of?
The Talent Pool is a two day session where you and other students from your area come together for workshops such as, Impression Management, Resume Development, Interview Techniques, How to Manage Your Career and Mock Interviews. You will learn the history and mission of INROADS. Also you will have presentations from Inroads Advisors, Inroads Interns, and Corporate Sponsors.
When you leave the Talent Pool you are overwhelmed with information but you will also feel that your ahead of the pack because of the skills you acquired.
Yes I went through the Talent Pool, and I had two interviews; there is a possibility I'll have four more, so I'm just waiting around , but GOOD LUCK...I hope you get an intership, and I hope I do too!
I was in the Pre-college component of INROADS about two summers ago... I was planning on doing an intern with them this summer, but Im trying to see what other opportunities will arise.
In the 5-year MBA program I am in now, I have to do three internships to graduate so Im in NO RUSH!
