Trying to Change them.... Posted on 02-07-2005
In Rod We Trust

Ok I have a question.....it just sorta came to me... Back in highschool it was this boy...who was FINE as all get out. BUT 1. he never kept a fresh hair cut....2. His clothes were.....well shot to hell....3. He never wore any type of colonge.... I always use to make the comment " Give me 200 dollars and I'll have him looking like he's never looked before"... But you know...you could see the cuteness undeneath all of those uhhh material flaws. So I was wondering..Is it wrong to try and change the way someone appears...even if it's for the better?? He had no sense of dressing or nothing like that.... Or...should you leave him/her the way they are...because I mean hey ur suppose to like this person for his/her personality right?? We all seem to think that fashion and all that doesnt play a role in how we pick our mate...but I personally think that only matters if you have no fashion urself.... So is it wrong...to try and..."change" your mate..for the better?

It depends...cause maybe he liked being that way or maybe he juss never had enuff money to keep up wit tha latest fashions and whatnot. I think it all depends on how long you've been wit tha person before you start to try n change em. Me personally...am thinkin about doin a lil experiment on a dude that Im talkin to right now. Juss like u said...give some money and I'll hook a **** up. But personality shud be the most important thing u shud have to worry about. Not unless yer goin out and u want him to look as nice as u...then WORRY!

I see where yall coming from... But I'm saying from JUMP...like do you look at a guy/girl and say " He'd be cuter if he dressed nicer" Yall start talking and ur at his crib picking out his outfit for the next day... Or what if he was stubborn and really wanted to wear that wack shiet that he has?? would that effect you? Like I'm not saying he has to be Akademik and Girbaud out...but dammit guys fail to realize... If you don't have the money to wear name breand clothes.... a white tee....some nice crisp jeans..and BLACK shoes..( ones...new balances...addidas) will do you fine...I HATE..i mean HATE..when I see guys wearing the "knock off version" of clothes... But the same goes w/females...if you can't afford to keep up with the jones....Old Navy has those plain fitted t-shirts 3 for 15 get u some diff colors...put on some nice jeans..and shoes..and thats that... People **** me wearing Tommy Gear...or oh my goodness the fat albert characters...but its not fubu...fat albert got a du-rag and a gold chain on talkin bout hey hey hey...no..no..no

I'll let him dress in whateva he wants. If we're in the mall or i see something cute, i might say "wow...that would look really cute on u sweety" or "ooo...i could see u rockin that", but it's all about him being comfortable. Cuz i SURELY don't want a dude tryna influence my style and what i wear. "Kenya, u should get a perm, i don't like your hair natural" , "Kenya, you should show off your figure more. Ya know, a lil more cleave &...", "Why don't u ever wear skirts or dresses?". I wear what i wear becuz i am comfortable in it & it's a reflection of who i am. If a negro doesn't like it, then he doesn't like me:arrow:

To try to get someone to change is something that is wrong to me. I mean if u hook up with someone then u know how they look and u should be willing to accept them how they are. But yeah, like Kenya said giving suggestions everynow and then is not bad
