I got accepted to VSU but I still dont know if i should go. So anyone that goes there or has visited the school could tell me a little about it from a student stand point. I would really appreciate it.Thanx
Well first off, Congrats to both of you on your acceptance to VSU and any other Universites u were accepted to. Lets see where to start, well the dorms are in pretty good condition, Girls have a choice between 3 dorms, HOward, Branch & Byrd, all have AC, Branch is the best,Bigger rooms..Howard has a repuation, youll find out when u get her, Byrd is a lil strict. Boys used to have a choice between 3, but theyre gonna change it to a upperclass coed dorm, so now u have Williams & Puryear, Williams-Semi Big Rooms & AC, Puryear-Big rooms-No AC..The Parties are pretty good, we dont have parties on the campus like that, but we have parties at this place called the Civic, where VSU along with Virginia Union & Virginia COmmonwealth Universities come together and party...and then youll have your parties in Richmond that Virginia Union will host, so the parties are pretty good, especially as a freshman.....Work wise i think its a good place to get a degree from, our Business & Education schools are off the hook. We have a nice campus...Once you visit other HBCUs, youll appreciate VSU more...u have to see that for yourself...We have a great band, incredible choirs, youll love the Woo-Woos, we have all 9 fraternities and sororities on our campus, plus other frats and sororites u can join and a lot of other organizations...We have a rivalry with just about every other school in the CIAA,but its all in fun, it just makes the college experience better, wait til u experience the Games between us and Virginia Union..um um um...they can back me up on that one....Just like every other HBCUs we have a pros and cons, now our cons............... We dont have cable, unless youre in the new places they built, you dont get coed visitation as a freshman and its in Petersburg!! There is NOTHIng in Petersburg, that is where VUU, VCU & Uof R have the advantage b/c therye right in the city, but VSU is about 20mins away from Richmond....anything else???
Another question: are there places to work out, like exercise rooms?
and, do u know what i can expect at the new student orientation?
(I still wanna go there, but i'm just worried abt. tha money situation)
Yes...VSU does have several student fitness facilities. There is also an aerobics room. They have recent built off-campus apartments that also come complete with a fitness center http://www.universityapartmentsatettrick.com BTW...VSU is Tom Joyner's HBCU of the Month for May. He will be our commencement speaker this year.
