If you have read any of my more my personal posts, you may know that I am a first semester freshman attending Morris College in Sumter South Carolina. Next year, (God willing) I will begin the process of entering into Greek life. I have already made up my mind on which fraternity I will join, but there is still room for change. The reason I am writing this is to get some more information on fraternities. Some of my friends know about which group I am interested in, but they do not agree to my choice because of the groups' "reputation" around campus. Its very sad to say that I am damn near infatuated with this fraternity but I do not meet that expectation and "extra criteria" that has been sey by my fellow Morris students. To be honest..........I will NEVER meet that expectation. I am sure some of you know what I am talking about, and who I am referring to. Please respond with some insight on this issue, and some words of wisdom.
The best thing for you to do is research that fraternity, and don't worry about what your friends say...they probably have that same Fraternity in mind but have too much pride to do the research. When I became a Delta I had people asking me why Delta, why not this or that... including my mother. I even thought there was gonna be some furniture moving going on when I went home (she's an AKA). But she's still my mother and accepts me just the same. But we have our days when we joke around about each other sorority and throw insults. (out of love)
youngslim, I know I holla'd at you the other day. I too am doing stuff to complete my requirements. I've been working hard at it since last semester. People don't ever think I chose what I chose. If you met me, you'd be like aww he's defenitely going to be this. Its just the way I feel about the people in my chapter and how I admire them. If I was at Morris or somewhere else I would probably be what I appear to be.
Go with your heart playa...Thats all I can offer you.

I may be able to offer a lil more guidance...
Wouldnt say im a expert but I know alot
I think alot of people are blinded by how the chapter reps on campus etc. Remember that you aren't just joining the folks in that chapter, but the organization as a whole. Do research nationally...I mean yeah u need to get along with your chapter brothers and sisters but these organizations don't stop at the chapter level.
Hope ya get to where your future holds. Just remember, it's easier to tell everybody your gonna be in a particular fraternity, than to not. meaning* Your a better person if nobody knows what your going to do, until "your night" comes.
